Trip Overview

Lower Dolpo/Phoksundo Lake Trek

This trek through Lower Dolpo offers an unparalleled journey into one of Nepal’s most remote regions, showcasing the stunning Phoksundo Lake and the rich Bon Po culture. The trail winds through barren landscapes and over high passes, including the Numa La Pass (5309m) and Baga La Pass (5169m), offering breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri (8167m) and the Tibetan ranges.

Phoksundo Lake, with its turquoise waters surrounded by 2000m high cliffs, is a pristine highlight of the trek. The journey provides an immersive experience of the ancient Bon Po religion, practiced by the Tibetan and Magar communities of Dolpo. The route also offers a chance to spot Blue Sheep, and with immense luck, the elusive Snow Leopard.

This adventure combines steep trails, cultural encounters, and off-the-beaten-path challenges, making it one of Nepal’s most exciting treks. It’s ideal for trekkers seeking an authentic, raw Himalayan experience.
