Trip Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a classic short trek that offers a perfect blend of cultural immersion and natural beauty. If you only have a few days, this trek provides a great insight into Nepali life, passing through beautiful Gurung villages and dense rhododendron forests, especially in the spring when the hillsides are adorned with vibrant rhodi blossoms. The trek is famous for its Poon Hill sunrise, offering panoramic views of some of Nepal’s most iconic peaks, including Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, and Annapurna South, all bathed in the morning’s Alpine glow.

While the trek’s altitude is relatively low, it’s still important to listen to your body and acclimatize properly. As one of the easier routes in the Annapurna Sanctuary, the trek is well-served with guesthouses and restaurants along the way, especially during peak trekking seasons. Poon Hill is also an excellent extension trek before attempting more challenging routes like the Annapurna Circuit or Annapurna Base Camp.
